Facility Features, Working Principle and Specifications

Features Working Principle

Principle: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometers are analytical devices that exploit the magnetic properties of certain atomic nuclei to determine physical and chemical properties of atoms or the molecules in which they are contained.

NMR is a spectroscopic technique that detects energy absorbed by changes in the nuclear spin state. It involves transition of a nucleus from one spin state to another with the resultant absorption of radiofrequency radiation by spin active nuclei (nuclei with spin ≠ to zero) when they are placed in a magnetic field. A plot of peak intensity versus the frequency absorbed (represented as δ,chemical shift) constitutes an NMR spectrum.

 Features:  Spectrometer Frequency: 600 MHz

Three Solution State Probes:

1) Royal Probe - A Multinuclear 5 mm double resonance Broadband Liquid Probe with Variable temperature facility to cover nuclei preferably 15N to 31P and Variable temperature accessory for -100oC to +150oC. Automatic tuning and matching for all observation Nuclei.

2) Triple Resonance 5mm HCN Probe for performing 3D NMR experiments with 1H,13C and 15N at temperatures in the range -20oC to +100 oC

3) TH5 Probe - Observation Nuclei 15N to 31P and 1H and 19F, and Variable temperature accessory for -100o to +150oC. Automatic tuning and matching for all observation Nuclei.

Two Solid Sta/te CP MAS Probes:

i) 3.2mm HXMAS probe with fast MAS = 20KHz spinning speed to cover nuclei in the range of 15N to 31P and Variable temperature capability in the range -20 oC to +80 oC.

ii) 1mm HXMAS Probe with fast MAS = 75KHz spinning speed to cover nuclei in the range of 15N to 31P and Variable temperature capability in the range -40 oC to +40 oC

Auto Sample Changer: Available for 64 samples.

NMR Processing Software: Delta NMR Data Processing Software
